María is a Chilean- Mexican producer and writer based in New York City. She has worked for companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Miramax and Disney as well as small independent projects. In her work, she likes to explore themes exclusive to the female experience, immigration, trauma, mental health and familial relationships.
Her last film, Just Surviving (2021), a short documentary, was officially selected as part of the Lift-Off Film Festival. Her short screenplay, Shallow End (2023), has already received accolades including an honorable mention at the “Big Apple Screenplay Competition”. She hopes to raise the funds to produce the touching short and turn it into her directorial debut of original fiction writing.
